Seventeen Seconds accende i suoi microfoni su Radio Gwen per farvi compagnia e farvi passare 1 ora e mezza con i suoni dei mitici anni 80…. ma non solo…. avremo sempre un orecchio teso verso il presente per scoprire i nuovi gruppi che ancora oggi ricalcano e cercano di tenere viva quest’ondata musicale…..

Seventeen seconds è nato da una passione smisurata per il periodo che ha cavalcato la musica a tra la fine degli anni 70 e tutto il 1980. Herbert e Federico tra una pezzo musicale e l’altro, accompagneranno gli ascoltatori attraverso notizie improbabili recuperate da tutto il mondo e qui la differenza da altre trasmissioni che si occupano di musica Dark, New Wave… si fa sentire.

“Style Sindrome”

La musica degli Style Sindrome si distingue per le alchimie dei suoni e per le atmosfere rarefatte, per la particolarità degli incastri armonici e per la ricerca di equilibrio fra sensibilità dark e psichedelia.

Biografia:

Gli Style Sindrome sono stati una delle prime realtà ad emergere dal magma post-punk/new wave italiano: nascono a Roma nel 1980 dalle ceneri di due interessanti formazioni capitoline: i TM Spa, gruppo che si annovera fra i vincitori del 1° Festival Rock Italiano, e gli Elektroshock, gruppo rock ben noto e attivo verso la fine degli anni Settanta. Il line-up: Stefano Curti (chitarra e basso), Anna Di Stefano (voce) Massimo Frezza (sax e tastiere), Giorgio Mastrosanti (chitarra) e Raimondo Mosci (batteria). Ispirata soprattutto ad atmosfere dark e post-punk, di cui furono capostipiti alcuni gruppi inglesi e in particolare Siouxsie and the Banshees, la musica degli Style Sindrome si distingue per le alchimie dei suoni e per le atmosfere rarefatte, per la particolarità degli incastri armonici e per la ricerca di equilibrio fra sensibilità dark e psichedelia. La band produce alcuni demo-tapes negli anni ’81 e ’82 ed è presente sul territorio nazionale con concerti dal vivo e passaggi radio-televisivi, di cui rimane una preziosa testimonianza nel videoclip di Giandomenico Curi e Gianfranco Giagni “Una Squillo per Christian”, prodotto dalla RAI per la trasmissione “Mister Fantasy”. Nel 1982 partecipa inoltre con il brano “Waving in the Dark” alla compilation “Gathered”, edita da Rockerilla e prodotta da Electric Eye Records. L’album “Gathered”, ristampato su CD da Spittle Records nel 2007, verrà poi votato da Rolling Stone Italia nel 2012, fra i 100 dischi italiani più belli di sempre. Gli Style Sindrome si sciolgono a Roma alla fine del 1982, quando Anna e Stefano si trasferiscono a Londra. I due incontrano subito Rab Fae Beith (ex batterista The Wall) e insieme a lui formano i Rhythm & Faith, band nella quale l’essenza dark degli Style Sindrome si trasforma ed evolve in pieno goth. I Rhythm & Faith incidono nel 1983 un Ep per Future Records intitolato “Time to Run”. Nel novembre 2012, esattamente 30 anni dopo lo scioglimento degli Style Sindrome, Synthethic Shadows Records pubblica un bellissimo vinile intitolato “A Mysterious Design”, che raccoglie i 7 brani tratti dai due demo-tapes registrati a Roma negli anni ’81 e ’82. Alcuni mesi più tardi, l’album viene publicato anche su CD dall’etichetta francese Infrastition. Con l’uscita di “A Mysterious Design”, gli Style Sindrome sono tornati a suonare dal vivo e registrare nuovo materiale inedito. Il bassista Davide Messina ha fatto parte della nuova formazione dal settembre 2012 fino alla fine della registrazione del nuovo album “Far”, di cui si prevede l’uscita a breve. Dalla primavera 2016 è entrata a far parte degli Style Sindrome la bassista Luisa Mann. L’avventura continua…

Style Sindrome were among the first bands to emerge from the Italian new wave/post-punk magma. They started in Rome in 1980 from the remains of two interesting Roman bands: TM Spa, which was one of the four groups winners of the 1st Italian Rock Festival, that took place in Rome in the same year, and Elektroshock, a well known rock group, active in the late seventies. The line-up: Stefano Curti (guitar and bass), Anna Di Stefano (vocals) Massimo Frezza (sax and keyboards), Giorgio Mastrosanti (guitar) and Raimondo Mosci (drums).
Inspired above all by the dark atmosphere and post-punk, whose founders were some British groups, especially Siouxsie and the Banshees, the music of Style Sindrome is characterized by the alchemy of sounds and a rarefied atmosphere, by the peculiarity of tangling harmonics and by the search for balance between dark sensitivity and psychedelia.
Some demo tapes were produced in the years ’81 and ’82, and the band was present in Italy with live concerts, radio and television appearances. Of one of these appearances remains a valuable evidence in Giandomenico Curi and Gianfranco Giagni’s video clip “Una Squillo per Christian”, produced by RAI for the cult transmission”Mister Fantasy”.
In 1982, Style Sindrome’s song “Waving in the Dark” was included in the compilation “Gathered”, published by Rockerilla magazine and produced by Electric Eye Records. The album “Gathered”, was reissued on CD by Spittle Records in 2007 and in 2012 was included by Rolling Stone Italia Magazine in the list of the top 100 most beautiful Italian records ever made!
Style Sindrome came to an amicable end in Rome in late 1982, when Anna and Stefano moved to London. The two met almost immedialtely Rab Fae Beith (former drummer of The Wall) and together they formed Rhythm and Faith, the band in which the dark essence of Style Sindrome was transformed and evolved into full Gothic Rock. In 1983, Rhythm and Faith recorded an EP for Future Records with the title “Time to Run”.

In November 2012, exactly 30 years after the end of Style Sindrome, Sinthetic Shadows Records released a beautiful vinyl with the title “A Mysterious Design”, which transferred the 7 tracks from the old demo tapes recorded in Rome in the years ’81 and ’82. Some months later, the album “A Mysterious Design” was also released on CD by the French label Infrastition.
After the release of “A Mysterious Design”, Style Sindrome returned to playing live and a few years later started to record new material. With the exception of bass player Stefano Curti, who was no longer living in Italy at the time of the reunion, all the original members of the band were able to get together again. Bass player David Messina joined Style Sindrome in September 2012 and remained until the end of the recording sessions of the new album “Far”, which was released on 24th February 2017 for XX92 Records (with distribution by the Italian company Goodfellas).
Bass player Luisa Mann joined Style Sindrome in spring 2016.
